In addition to providing scholarships and grants to aspiring musicians, Ben's Encore also provides community outreach to the youth in Metro Detroit, helping to ensure a continuation of the area's rich musical heritage. Look for us at one of Metro Detroit's local festivals, where we explain the science of sound and allow young musicians in the area to build their own instruments. We also travel to local schools to provide after-school enrichment for students.
Science of Sound Workshops Through our Science of Sound workshops, Ben's Encore teaches science principles by using music and sound. Learn about energy principles through sounds waves, explore the anatomy of the ear and how we hear things, or discover how circuits can make music. Learn more! | Build Your Own Instrument Guide We believe that the first step to understanding great music is to understand sound and how it's made. That's why we've created our "Build Your Own Instrument" guide with over 25 instruments that you can build from household or recycled items. Download the guide for free or click here to learn more! Caution: Some of the instruments require the use of sharp hand tools or power tools. Adult supervision is necessary. |
